Pastaba

Žvaigždės (Stars): the element of clear sight, distant memory, and prophecy.

Boon

Clear Sight: seeing at distance, through time (as possibility, never certainty) and into the truth. Every Praurimė vision shows the seer something about herself (Law of Truth).

Minor / major cost

Minor: hours of blindness. Major: blind for days, or the permanent loss of one beloved face from memory. At the wrong hour the price doubles: Birutė’s ch. 3 vision at Dagotuvės costs „two days, maybe three“ of blindness (Book I). At the right hour: Book V ch. 29, „Praurimė shone highest, and the price was half. Half. Still everything.“

Limits

It shows branches, never a fixed trunk: prophecy is not fate. Overcast sky makes it impossible. A Praurimė seer can see through the Shadow-Seller’s illusions at the cost of blindness, the only such counter besides wit. Consecrated stone doubles the cost.

Uses in the books

Book I ch. 3 (the Ship of swords and the first Sutartis); ch. 9 (the vault of Praurimė’s night as Kęstutis’s torch fades); ch. 15 (the Five-Voice ends in „the cold brightness of Praurimė’s eyes“, and he faints); ch. 27 (Birutė sees the small flame in the stone vault). Book V ch. 29 (the Queen’s last working, for the dying Flame-Keeper, at the Kūčios zenith: afterwards she can no longer speak through the amber).
