What the chronicles say [Historical record]

Długosz’s story: in late April 1434 Jogaila, riding to Gródek near Lviv, stood at night in the forest at Medyka to hear the nightingales, took a cold in the frost, and weeks later died (the death). The nightingale detail is a chronicler’s anecdote; the chill is the stated cause.
